[HanCinema's News] Um Tae-goo Tops Fundex for Fifth Straight Week

The K-Contents data specialist firm Good Data Corporation recently released the latest version of its Fundex which tracks which South Korean television dramas and entertainers are the most popular on South Korean media platforms. Actor Um Tae-goo first ascended to the top of the Fundex on July 9th for his work on "My Sweet Mobster" which started on June 12th. As of August 6th, Um Tae-goo has now maintained that position for the remainder of the romance drama's run- five straight weeks.

Ratings for "My Sweet Mobster" have not been impressive- it opened with 2.297% ratings and ended only slightly higher with 2.939% ratings in its final episode. However, with little competition, the romantic story between a reformed mobster and a kids' content creator took control of a fairly weak discourse for active television dramas. Um Tae-goo's dark leading man in particular has been a subject of interest, as Um Tae-goo has brought a serious acting sensibility to a genre he does not usually do.
