This is in the face of fairly average ratings. "Welcome to Waikiki 2" had only 1.752% in its last airing. However, for a low budget late night comedy drama, "Welcome to Waikiki 2" did extremely well. The predecessor "Welcome to Waikiki" series was also a success by this metric, and its last episode finished at 2.081%.
The references may not be about the drama persay. Actor Son Seung-won from "Welcome to Waikiki" recently felt heat for trying to evade a drunk driving checkpoint and had to quickly begin his mandatory military service. Kim Seon-ho is now playing his role in the sequel series. The Good Data report does not track the content of social media posts in this much detail. The report was compiled in the last week of March.
