[HanCinema's News] Youn Yuh-jung Reminisces About her Father
By William Schwartz | Published on
On May 15th tvN started airing a television program called The Unexpected Yuh-jung, a pun on the given name of actress Youn Yuh-jung, which can also be read as journey. The topic of the show concerns Youn Yuh-jung's travel to the United States earlier this year to serve as a presenter for the Academy Awards. This was as a follow-up to the ceremony from last year, where Youn Yuh-jung won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Korean-American film Minari.

One topic of interest in the episode was Youn Yuh-jung discussing her father, who she shows off in a very old black-and-white picture. Youn Yuh-jung describes him as very handsome, while also wryly noting that in general, people tend to say she doesn't look anything like him. Youn Yuh-jung mentioned that her son saw the photo once, and couldn't believe that this was his grandfather because he looked very different. Youn Yuh-jung's father died when she was around nine years old.
