Harvesting season for independent animation

The 2006 Indie-AniFest begins search for new works

Indie-AniFest, Korea's one and only independent animation festival, is calling out for new works from August 14 to 31 for the 2006 Indie-AniFest's official competition.

Animated works completed after January 2004, but have not been submitted for competition in the festival, can participate in the official competition, which has a total prize money of 10 million Korean won to be given away.

Films selected by the preliminary jury advance to the final competition, and will be screened to the public at the Namsan Animation Center during the festival in October. Among these works, winners of the Grand Prize, and Gold, Silver, and Bronze Prizes will receive prize money.

Those joining the competition should submit a work to the Festival Office by August 31 either in person or by mail.

An animation festival hosted by the Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA, CEO: Suh, Byung-Moon) and the Association of Korean Independent Animation (CEO: Lee, Yong-Bae) to promote cultural diversity and expansion of independent animation, Indie-AniFest introduces to the public independent animation projects with experimental spirit and auteurism. Under the slogan, "The Sky is High and Independent Animation is Huge", this year's festival will be held for five days from October 27 to 31 at the Namsan Animation Center in Seoul.
