Healthier Living with Woongjin Coway

Most people might not consider a water purifier as essential an appliance in the kitchen as a refrigerator or oven but in Korea they are quite common. While the tap water is potable in Korea, most people prefer filtered water because of its better taste and potential health benefits. This has driven Korean companies like Woongjin Coway to develop some of the most effective and innovative water filters in the world.

One of example of their innovation is newest water filter in their line, called the Han-Byeom, which means "the width of one hand" in English. This refers to the fact that the filter is just 18 cm wide, giving it a much smaller footprint that most filters of this quality. In Korea's small apartments, every centimeter of space is important.

The Han Byeom filter is also very modern and sleek. It has a cool touch display that is reminiscent of a touchscreen phone. The screen lets you choose between hot, room temperature and cold water, and also dispense a pre-determined amount of water.

Despite being slim, this purifier still accommodates large pots or pitchers. As you can see from the below picture, a 20.5 centimeter-tall pot fits easily under the spigot.

Of course, we also have to consider how eco-friendly a product is before we can really declare it "innovative". This filter uses very little power and doesn't use any CFC refrigerants to cool the water. Instead it uses Woongjin Coway's super-quiet TEM cooling system.

Not to leave out the most important point about this filter: It's Nano trap-filter eliminates of more than 99.99% of viruses and bacteria that could live in the water.

While not exactly innovative, I'd be remiss not to mention that 2PM, one of Korea's hottest boy bands, is helping to promote the filter. Check out the video below:
