"The Midnight Romance in Hagwon" is a drama about the exciting and sweet midnight romance between star instructor Seo Hye-jin (Jung Ryeo-won) and a new student Lee Joon-ho (Wi Ha-jun). It tells the story of academy instructors and their romance that comes when the night falls in Daechi-dong.
Jung Ryeo-won plays Seo Hye-jin, a star instructor with 14 years of experience in the drama. Lee Joon-ho, a student from a prestigious university, suddenly appears one day, causing an unexpected deviation from her reality.
"It feels like a long summer vacation is over", said Jung Ryeo-won, who is still in the process of parting with Seo Hye-jin. She stressed repeatedly that "The Midnight Romance in Hagwon" is her ' life's work'. She said she was called after just two months of writing in her diary that she wanted to work with Ahn Pan-seok.
Jung Ryeo-won said, "Many of my colleagues and seniors said it was nice to work with Director Ahn, so I wondered what kind of person he was. I received the script and the director's name was Ahn Pan-seok. It was even better because it was a melodrama. I said I was going to do it without reading the script", adding, "I desperately wanted it, and realized if you truly want something, it will come to you".
She was as happy as if she met her first love. "Every line was interesting, and it was even more so because I was a Korean language teacher who didn't miss any lines. "The Midnight Romance in Hagwon" felt like slow food. In the past, I was addicted to instant foods. But "The Midnight Romance in Hagwon" is a slow build-up work. People who watched it might have felt unfamiliar with it, but I thought there should be more works of this pace", she said.
Jung Ryeo-won emphasized that "The Midnight Romance in Hagwon" is a work that allowed her to graduate from anxiety. "I told myself 'It was enough' after finishing the work for the first time. I'm not a perfectionist, but I always had anxiety, but now I think I've learned how to be satisfied. It became a work that made me 'graduate' from my anxiety", she said.
"The Midnight Romance in Hagwon" ended with the sixteenth episode on the 30th of last month.
