Jun Ji-hyun to Receive President's Award

Actress Jun Ji-hyun will be given the top award for her contribution to promoting Korean culture around the world.

The government announced 29 winners of various Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards based on their activities at home and abroad, contribution to the cultural industry and society as a whole, and popularity and reputation.

Besides Jeon, who has enjoyed immense popularity due to her appearance in the drama "My Love from the Star", the president's award will also be given to six others including singer Lee Moon-sae.

The winners of the prime minister's award include boy band JYJ and singers Lee Ji-eun and Kim Jong-kook, while girl group Girls' Day will receive the cultural minister's award.

The award ceremony takes place at the National Theater of Korea in Seoul on Thursday.
