According to a report by Star News on the 5th, Jung Chae-yeon was selected as the main character in JTBC's new drama "Esquire" along with Lee Jin-uk. "Esquire" is a story about lawyers based on actual legal litigation, and Kim Jae-hong, producer of SBS drama "Flex X Cop" will direct it.
Initially, it was reported that Lee Jin-uk and Lee Hyeri would play the main character, but Lee Hyeri reportedly refused to appear while reviewing the work. She is set to premiere the STUDIO X+U drama "Friendly Rivalry" on the 10th and is considering another film.
Lee Jin-uk met with viewers last year by appearing in the Netflix series "Sweet Home - Season 3", the original Genie TV series "Dear Hyeri", and the Netflix series "Squid Game - Season 2". He also transformed into Father Paul in "Dark Nuns" which was released in January, adding a rich texture to the film.
Since December 29th last year, he has been taking restless steps, starting filming the movie "7AM Breakfast Meeting for the Brokenhearted". "7AM Breakfast Meeting for the Brokenhearted" is a film adaptation of Baek Young-ok's original novel of the same name published in 2012. Sa-kang (Bae Suzy) and Ji-hoon (Lee Jin-uk) exchange their 'heartbreak souvenirs' with each other at a breakfast meeting where they share their stories and pains.
Attention is focusing on what Lee Jin-uk, who continues to work hard, will show in "Esquire", where he becomes a lawyer.
In addition, Jung Chae-yeon was recognized for her acting skills by playing Yoon Joo-won, who is bold and cheerful, in the JTBC drama "Family by Choice" which ended in November last year, with a wide range of performances from a teenager in uniform to a character in her 20s. Expectations are rising whether Jung Chae-yeon, who will play her first lawyer role in "Esquire", will be able to expand her acting spectrum once again.
In particular, this is the first time that Lee Jin-uk and Jung Chae-yeon, who are under BH Entertainment, will work together, drawing attention to what kind of acting the two will show. The agency, BH Entertainment, said, "We have been offered an offer and are considering it positively".
Meanwhile, "Esquire" has been confirmed to be on JTBC and is scheduled to air in the second half of this year.
