He appeared on the CBS "Kim Hyun-jung's News Show" on the 5th and said, "Immigrants are a faraway tale to us. So I understand why Koreans are against immigrants. We are also immigrants who survive every day".

"I know being an immigrant is difficult and some think we have to take care of what's difficult for us first. Most hope we come in first. I understand completely". He was referring to the immigrants from Yemen that are currently in Jeju Island.

However, his thoughts were clear. "The Republic of Korea has its laws and policies. We can't judge them within those walls. It is in the refugee convention under the international community. It's not up to us to say whether they should live or not live among us. We must resolve the distrust and concern of domestic society while keeping our promise to the international community".
