Kang Full's I Love You and others named Today's Korean Comics

I Love You (Kang Full and Munhaksegyesa), Veritas (Yoon, Joon-Sik, Kim, Dong-Hoon and Haksanmunhwasa), and The Bride of Habaek (Yoon, Mi-Kyeong and Seoul Munhwasa) were named Today's Korean Comics for the second half of 2007.

Hosted by Korean Cartoonists' Association and Ilgan Sports and sponsored by Korea's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the awarding ceremony for Today's Korean Comics for the Second Half of 2007 was held on February 15 at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Office.

The winning comics were chosen among those that were published anytime from April 2007 to February 2008. Among the 100 comics recommended by the Korean Cartoonists' Association, Urimana, the Korea Comics Publishing Association, and other comics organizations, as well as publishers and the general public, these three works were chosen for their popularity, quality, and level of contribution to Korean culture.

I Love You by Kang Full is the third segment of his Hi-teen Comics Series. Following the touching love story between an old lady who collects waste paper and an old man who delivers milk, and the appearance of families in their memory, the comics tells us about love between seniors who have been alienated from Korean society.

Veritas is an action epic comic based on a school that teaches martial arts. Based on legendary and archetypal Korean martial arts that date back to ancient history and the secret of which were transferred only to one man, the comic offers readers such a fantastic world of martial arts that Yoon, In-Wan and Yang, Kyeong-Il, creators of New Amhaegeosa, Mun, Jeong-Hwo, creator of Yongbibulpae, and Jeong, Geuk-Jin, creator of Yeolhyeolgangho, have all given the comic their highest praise.

The Bride of Habaek, a modern reinterpretation of Seowangmo and Habaek and other Korean shamanistic beliefs, tells readers about mystic experiences of Soa, who was offered as the bride of Habaek and arrives at the Kingdom of Water, the world of gods. Habaek, who is a child during the day and changes to a handsome young man at night, and Huye are some of the characters in this comic that is most loved by women readers.

The cartoonists of the winning works received a plaque from the Minister of Culture and Tourism and a cash prize of KRW 3M.

Meanwhile, the Korean Cartoonists' Association plans to hold various events to promote these wining works from February 20 via http://www.libro.co.kr.
