This will be his first drama in four years.

Kim Eun-sook cast Gong Yoo because, "I'd always wanted to work with him but never had the chance. I've always dreamt of doing a romantic comedy with him. One day I ran into him coincidentally and talked with him for a while. I realized he was a great actor and knew he was perfect for the role in "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God".

Hwa and Dam Pictures CEO Yoon Ha-rim said, "This drama took 3 years to make and even way before "Descendants of the Sun". The subject of a goblin is quite familiar to us but at the same time it could be awkward. However, writer Kim Eun-sook is gifted when it comes to comically unraveling a love story between a man and a woman".

"Guardian: The Lonely and Great God" is currently in the casting process.

Meanwhile, "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God" is about a 'protective goblin' who needs a human priest to end his immortal life, and an Angel of Death living together. The drama is a wonderful but sad one as the goblin and the Angel of Death sees the Dead off into the other world. The drama will be released in November.
