Synopsis
This is the first feature-length documentary directed by Kim Dong-ho, former Executive Director of the Busan International Film Festival. A retired public official, the filmmaker captures the current state of theater and film through the lens of a filmmaker. In the rapidly changing film ecosystem following the pandemic, the director personally travels to theaters and film festivals in Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, and other Asian countries, taking his camera with him. He hears about his memories and current concerns regarding theater and film from the filmmakers he meets there. Leading figures from Korea and abroad, including Lee Chang-dong, Park Chan-wook, Bong Joon-ho, Hirokazu Koreeda, Tsai Ming-liang, and Garin Nugroho, willingly share their thoughts and concerns about cinema and theater with Kim. What began as a journey to examine the current state of theater evolves into an emotional record of cinema, ultimately offering a valuable opportunity to reflect on the essence of cinema and the sustainability of cinema. It is a quiet and heartfelt love letter from a veteran filmmaker who still holds a deep love for theater and film.
