Lee El Confirms to Star in "Hyupban" With Jang Keun-suk

South Korean actress Lee El is set to star alongside Jang Keun-suk in a new drama.

According to a report by Ilgan Sports on the 31st, Lee El has confirmed her appearance in the drama "Hyupban" and is currently finalizing the details.

"Hyupban" tells the story of Ma Han-sang, a gangster with exceptional cooking skills, who rescues a college student in danger and ends up hiding in the student's home. The series is a healing drama that conveys comfort and encouragement through warm, home-cooked meals. It is based on a novel by Japanese author Fukuzawa Tetsuzo, which was also adapted into a drama in Japan in 2016.

In the drama, Lee El will play the mother in a three-generation household, grandmother, mother, and daughter, who owns the house where Ma Han-sang hides. Jang Keun-suk, who took a break after starring in "Decoy", has been cast as Ma Han-sang.

The drama will be directed by Lee Min-woo-II, known for works such as "Boys over Flowers", "God's Quiz Season 4", and "Not Others".

"Hyupban" aims to begin filming in the first half of the year and is expected to wrap up its main casting soon before entering pre-production.
