A drama official told My Daily on the 23rd, "Lee Joon-gi will appear as the main character of the drama "Gyeongbokgung Detective Agency".
"Gyeongbokgung Detective Agency" is a comic investigative drama that goes beyond the palace of a king chasing a case and a new officer chasing the king. It is the story of King Hyejong, a king who has reasoning power and flexes his authority as king by getting what he wants, and rookie officer Lee Seo, who learned about love and social skills through books but has a monster memory.
In the drama, Lee Joon-gi plays Hyejong, the king who pursues events that occur in the Joseon and has a tongue like a knife. He neglects people in their faces and loses his temper easily, sighing so deeply and making spiteful remarks about anybody. He is also known as 'Pogok' in Chinese characters because his fluttering form is just like a cuckoo.
Lee Joon-gi's comeback is the first in three years. It was after tvN's "Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun" which aired in 2023. He held fan meetings in various parts of Asia last year. Expectations are high as he is an icon of popularity in historical dramas such as "The King and the Clown" and dramas "Iljimae", "Arang and the Magistrate", "Gunman in Joseon", "Scholar Who Walks the Night", and "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo".
Produced by Studio N, So Min-sun writes the script.
