Lee Joon to Star in Short-Form Drama "The Tax Reaper"

Actor Lee Joon is set to star in the short-form drama "The Tax Reaper".

Kidari Studio announced that it will produce a short-form drama adaptation of the popular IP "The Tax Reaper".

"The Tax Reaper" follows Sin Jae-hyeon, a National Tax Service officer with the extraordinary ability to see the amount of tax evasion committed by others, as he tracks down corruption among chaebols and the powerful elite. The series is based on the original work by author Dongmyeon Geobugi.

The original story, which has been adapted into both a web novel and a webtoon, has built a dedicated fan base. It garnered attention for its storyline of a protagonist taking on powerful figures and exposing corruption, as well as for its unique focus on tax collection.

The short-form adaptation will depict Sin Jae-hyeon's pursuit of the truth amid conspiracies involving conglomerate families, political circles, and even the National Tax Service itself, all delivered at a fast-paced rhythm. The conflict with his older brother, who abandoned his family in pursuit of success, and with those seeking power will also play a major role in the story.

Lee Joon will play Sin Jae-hyeon, the head of an NTS investigation team. Gifted with the ability to see tax evasion amounts, Sin Jae-hyeon uses his power to uncover corruption among major corporations and the ruling elite.

The drama will be directed by Kim Jae-hoon, who previously served as co-director on the Netflix series "Trigger".

Filming for "The Tax Reaper" wrapped on June 13th, and the production has now entered post-production. The series is scheduled to premiere exclusively in the second half of the year on Lezhin Snack, a global short-form drama platform.
