An official from CJ ENM, a distributor, told Star News on the 5th that they are 'positively reviewing' the production of JK Youn's new film "Ode to My Father 2".
"Ode to My Father 2" is a sequel to the movie "Ode to My Father" which was released in 2014. "Ode to My Father" is about the life of Deok-soo (Hwang Jung-min), who has been going through a period of upheaval since the Korean War in the 1950s. Notably, the movie attracted 14.26 million spectators, ranking second at the box office of 10 million Korean movies.
"Ode to My Father 2" which returns as a sequel for the first time in 11 years, is said to draw the story of Seong-min and his son Se-joo, who worked as a dispatched miner with Deok-soo.
Currently, actors Lee Sung-min and Kang Ha-neul are expected to appear in "Ode to My Father 2". It is known that Lee Sung-min was offered the role of the main character, Seong-min, and Kang Ha-neul was offered the role of Se-joo, Seong-min's youngest son.
If their appearance is confirmed, the two will reunite 11 years after the drama "Misaeng: Incomplete Life" which aired in 2014.
Meanwhile, "Ode to My Father 2" is said to be released next year.
