"This Year's Honorable Tax Payer" award ceremony started in 2011, in order to encourage ethical tax paying and to thank those who have set a good example by sharing with the society no matter what financial state they are in.
Actor So Ji-sub has donated over 100 million won (about $94k USD) to help finance abused children's therapy sessions and support low-income one-parent households through associations such as "Good Neighbors". Along with the actor, many people who've improved the society by their donations and volunteer works throughout the year have attended the award ceremony and dined together for brunch.
