According to the news, actress Sung Yu-ri has not received proper payment for her work from the drama "Swallow the Sun" that aired in 2009, making the payment long over due. Moreover, the amount due is $80 million.
As reporters dug deeper into her case, they found that "Swallow the Sun" failed to pay numerous people. Along with Sung Yu-ri, other cast members such as Ji Sung and So Yi-hyun also did not receive proper payment for their performances. Ji Sung is still expecting $15 million and So Yi-hyun $24 million.
New Port Entertainment, who oversaw the producing of "Swallow the Sun", promised the complete payment by the ending of July 2011 when the case was brought to light, but the payout did not occur. The details of this mishap have not been released to the public completely, but it is safe to assume that New Port Entertainment has struggled financially since their establishment in 2006. New Port Entertainment permanently closed not long after producing "Swallow the Sun" and the cast and staff of the drama were not payed their due because of it.
