▣ Jeonju International Film Festival
Through May 2
Chonju, North Cholla Province
Presenting some 220 short and feature films, videos and documentaries from 30 countries, almost all with English subtitles, the Jeonju International Film Festival is a good opportunity to find out about what independent experimental filmmakers have been up to around the world. The city is three hours by bus or train from Seoul, making it a possible day or weekend trip destination for movie lovers. The festival will open today with "Kanunghan Pyonhwadul (Possible Changes)", a film that looks at the ambiguities in the lives of a group of friends, and close with "November", right photo, a Spanish film examining the conflict between idealism and pragmatism in the arts.

Some of the sections at JIFF are Indie Vision, which will present 14 feature films; Digital Spectrum, which will explore how the digital media is being utilized in animations and video, and Asian Independent Film Forum. Tickets: 5,000 won to 10,000 won. Details: (063)288-5433, (02)2285-0562 or www.jiff.or.kr.
