MTV Hails 2NE1's CL Ahead of U.S. Debut

CL of girl group 2NE1 was named one of "Asia's most prominent pop stars" by MTV ahead of her U.S. debut.

The network also expects that the year 2015 has "potential to be one of the biggest years for Asian pop".

CL's "mindset -- of wanting to not just stick around but also shake things up -- coupled with [her] skill as a performer has her poised to be a big deal in 2015, and to be the catalyst to pushing Asian pop music further into the West than it ever has before", MTV said on Friday.

CL signed a deal with Scooter Braun's SB Projects and is preparing for her U.S. debut next year.

Braun also helped PSY with projects in the U.S.
