NEW film division announced on the 7th that it plans to diversify its business by producing and investing web IP-based content.
A content planning team dedicated to new media was established and various web IPs such as webtoons were secured.
As part of the new plan, NEW will showcase four BL (Boys Love) web dramas, including "Blueming", based on the webtoon "Something Is Wrong with Popularity". All four were pre-sold overseas.
"Blueming", which will be released on Naver SERIES ON and others on the 31st, was created with Kenaz, a webtoon creative studio that produced the original work.
Director Hwang Da-seul, who directed "To My Star" and other works, grabs the microphone for "Blueming" which is a campus romance between college students Si-won and Da-eun, who monopolize popularity wherever they go.
Co-produced with Myung Film, "Sing My Crush" is preparing to be released in the first half of the year.
Based on a webtoon of the same name, it is about the dream and romance of band vocalist Ba-ram and band manager Han-tae. Director So Joon-moon of the movie "Everglow" directed it.
In addition, "Bon Appetit" co-produced with Gogo Studio and "Love Tractor" co-produced with RaemongRaein will be released sequentially.
"We have discovered new possibilities in domestic and overseas markets where BL content is activated", said Kim Jae-min, CEO of NEW film division. "We will collaborate with domestic and foreign partners to introduce various content businesses using web IP".
