Instant noodle giant Nongshim, best known for its Shin Ramyeon brand, posted record-high sales in the U.S. in the first half of this year.

The company said its sales came to US$164 million, up 35 percent on-year.

Sales were up at major U.S. retailers such as Walmart, Costco and Amazon.

The increase was led by Shin Ramyeon, but a significant rise was also seen in other brands, including Chapagetti and Neoguri.

The company attributed the growth to greater demand for instant food due to the coronavirus epidemic and to the increasing appeal of its products in the U.S. after they were featured in Bong Joon-ho's Oscar-winning film "Parasite".
