The ninth edition of the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) wrapped on Thursday, July 8, after presenting 45 films from across Asia including seven Korean features and a collection of eight Korean standout shorts from Seoul's 2009 Mise-en-Scéne Short Film Festival.
Of the seven Korean features screening at NYAFF, on the lighter side were Lee Jae-yong's Berlin-selected "Actresses" with the director in attendance, Kang Hyeong-cheol's comedy hit "Scandal Makers", Lee Hae-joon's romantic-comedy "Castaway on the Moon" and Sin Jeong-won's hog-fueled comedy-thriller "Chaw".
On the more serious and edge-of-your-seat side were Lee Sang-woo-III's retelling of the tragic No Gun Ri massacre "A Little Pond", Lee Joon-ik's Chosun-set swashbuckler "Blades of Blood", and Jang Hoon's hit North-South spy thriller "Secret Reunion", starring top leads Song Kang-ho and KANG Don-won.
