Park Jinyoung to Star in "Shining"

GOT7 member and actor Park Jinyoung has been selected as the male lead of "Shining".

"Park Jinyoung will be the main character of JTBC's new drama "Shining", a source in the entertainment industry told Sports Chosun on Sunday. "Shining" is a story about a relationship and a love story in which the only world between two people becomes a light that shines in the direction of trust. It is expected to be a romance between male and female protagonists.

Park Jinyoung plays the role of Yeon  Tae-oh, a train engineer in the drama. One March at the age of 19, when he was living in a small town, his life changed after he lost his parents in an accident, and his younger brother Tae-seo injured his leg. After breaking up with Mo Eun-ah, whom he reunites with at 30, he expresses his feelings of loneliness, longing, and pain.

Park Jinyoung has been working hard at home since he was discharged from the military. He gained attention by releasing Channel A's "The Witch", which he filmed before joining the military, and is currently filming tvN's drama "Our Unwritten Seoul" with Park Bo-young.

"Shining" is directed by producer Kim Yoon-jin-I and written by Lee Sook-yeon, who wrote "Road to the Airport" and "A Piece of Your Mind" and took "Our Beloved Summer" and "Tell Me That You Love Me". Chae Jong-hyeop and Rowoon are considering hopping on as the cast and the current female protagonist, Kim Minju has confirmed to join.
