In the first episode, Kim Woo-jin and Yoon Sim-duk met while studying abroad in Tokyo. Hong Nan-pa (Lee Ji-hoon) suggested Yoon Sim-duk for Lee Woo-jin's latest play, and Yoon Sim-duk set an agreement that she was only going to sing and she'll quit if the play risks her safety.
The first encounter wasn't so pleasant. Kim Woo-jin wanted to show the people that their mother land Joseon still existed, but Yoon Sim-duk didn't approve of that. She was also upset at him for not reacting to her singing.
Then the police raided and Kim Woo-jin was taken. Yoon Sim-duk waited for him for several days and was shocked to see him again, but covered in blood.
Lee Jong-suk's performance was outstanding and his narration at the end of the episode left a lingering message. Shin Hye-sun did a good job as well, but some say she looked awkward when she sang. According to TNMS media data, the drama rated 5.9% and 6.5%, coming in first.
