Record Summer Expected

Korea can look forward to a record summer, with temperatures from June to August period on average 0.5 to 1.5 degrees Celsius higher than the usual 23.6 degrees, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.

There will be 20 to 25 scorching hot days with temperatures over 33 degrees, much more than the previous average of 9.8 days or last year's 13.3 days.

Tropical nights, when the temperature does not fall under 20 degrees all night, will occur for 12 to 17 days, two to three times more than the average 5.1 days or last year's 10.5.

The summer heat is expected to peak between late July and mid-August. Rainfall will be similar or less than in previous years.
