Red Velvet Kim Ye-rim to Star in "Azure Spring" With Kang Sang-jun

Red Velvet member Kim Ye-rim is set to star alongside actor Kang Sang-jun.

According to industry sources on the 14th, the drama "Azure Spring", based on the webtoon of the same name by Jang Deok-hyun, will premiere next month. Directed by Jeong Heon-soo and written by Ha Jin-I, the series is produced by Oz Arena and Studio Dal.

"Azure Spring" is a healing youth drama that follows Seo Anna, who has come to a standstill due to fear of the future, and Yoon Deok-hyeon, who remains stuck in the past and unable to move forward. Living as a haenyeo (female diver) and a haenam (male diver), the two gradually grow and heal through one another. Kim Ye-rim (as Seo Anna) and Kang Sang-jun (as Yoon Deok-hyeon) are expected to delicately portray the journey of youth striving to move forward in their own ways despite life's uncertainties.

In particular, the series unfolds against the stunning backdrop of the islands in Hallyeohaesang National Park in Tongyeong. The sea is depicted as more than just scenery, it becomes a space of challenge and growth that helps stagnant lives flow again. In addition, dishes made with a variety of fresh ingredients sourced from the Tongyeong sea will be woven into the story, offering viewers a unique visual experience.

Anticipation is especially high as Kim Ye-rim takes on the role of a haenyeo. Meanwhile, Kang Sang-jun, who gained attention as the husband of singer Lee Sona, the winner of Miss Trot 4, which concluded last month, will play a haenam, showcasing his on-screen chemistry with Kim Ye-rim.

"Azure Spring" will premiere on May 11 at 11 PM on MBN Plus, and will also be released the same day at 11:30 PM on major OTT platforms such as Wavve and TVING.

Overseas, the drama will be available to global audiences through leading streaming platforms, including Viu and Japan's video streaming service ABEMA.
