Shim Eun-kyung Nominated for Best Actress at Japanese Academy Awards

Actress Shim Eun-kyung has been nominated for the best actress award at the annual Japan Academy Film Prize.

Shim was among the nominees announced on Thursday for her performance in her debut Japanese film, "The Journalist".

Shim will compete for the honor with four Japanese actresses -- Fumi Nikaido, Mayu Matsuoka, Rie Miyazawa and Sayuri Yoshinaga -- with the winner due to be announced at a ceremony in Tokyo on March 6.

In "The Journalist", Shim plays a Japanese reporter who delves into a government corruption scandal targeting the Abe administration.
