The Korean side is to provide the entertainment content and the Chinese the site and funding.
Shim was a popular slapstick comedian in the 1980s and 90s. He produced several movies after setting up his own production company in 2007.
However, he soon ran into financial trouble and went bankrupt before securing an investment of 500 million yuan from a state-run movie production company in China to make the sequel to "D-War".
The movie is about the space race between the U.S. and the Soviet Union in the Cold War. It will go into production this year and is scheduled for release next summer.
