Sin coming back in October?

Accused for gambling abroad, Shin Jung-hwan, 35, is currently in Nepal, the Sports Daily reported Wednesday.

According to the newspaper, Sin informed an acquaintance that he recently went to Nepal, and it's assumed he chose the place to take a break to avoid attracting attention from Korean tourists.

The acquaintance said that Sin went into seclusion to prepare for his return to home in the middle of the next month, which confirms a statement from his manager who flew to the Philippines to talk with Sin.

Rumors abound that Sin currently owes several hundred million won in gambling debts.

His family recently moved to avoid people's attention.

Sin's fans are hoping that he quickly comes back and goes through an investigation to lessen the pain his family is under.

Sin lied that he had caught dengue fever to cover up for his gambling. Moving to places like Hong Kong and Macao, he has been waiting for Korean press' attention to fade.

However, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office has already opened an investigation regarding Sin's gambling and violation of the Foreign Exchange Control Law.



´도박혐의´ 신정환, 네팔에 체류중…10월 귀국 의사?

해외원정도박 의혹에 휩싸이며 궁지에 몰린 방송인 신정환(35)이 현재 네팔에 체류 중이라는 보도가 나와 이목을 집중시키고 있다.

29일 <일간스포츠>는 신정환 측근의 말을 인용하며 이 같은 사실을 알렸다. 보도에 따르면 신정환은 측근에게 네팔로 갔다고 알렸으며, 한국인 관광객들의 눈을 피해 귀국 전 마음을 정리하기 위한 것으로 보인다는 것.

특히 신정환은 다음달 중순경 입국하기로 마음을 정하고, 막바지 심경 정리에 돌입한 것으로 보인다는 게 측근들의 전언이다. 신정환을 만나기 위해 필리핀으로 출국했다 홀로 돌아온 매니저 역시 신정환의 10월 중순 귀국 가능성이 높다는 의견을 밝힌 상태다.

신정환은 현재 적게는 수억 원에서 많게는 수십억 원에 달하는 거액의 도박 빚을 안고 있다는 소문이 꼬리에 꼬리를 물고 있는 상태. 가족들마저 급히 살던 집을 이사하는 등 고통을 겪고 있다.

팬들은 하루 빨리 신정환이 귀국해 조사를 받고, 주변 사람들의 고통을 덜어주길 기대하고 있다.

한편, 신정환은 지난 9월 초부터 KBS <스타 골든벨> MBC <꽃다발> 등의 녹화를 연달아 펑크내 원정 도박설이 불거지기 시작했다. 뎅기열로 병원에 입원해 있었다는 해명과 함께 사진을 올리기도 했지만 이는 곧 조작으로 밝혀져 더욱 궁지에 몰리기도 했다.

신정환은 이후 홍콩, 마카오 등으로 행선지를 옮겨가며 한국 언론의 관심이 잦아들기를 기다리고 있는 것으로 알려졌다.

그러나 서울중앙지검은 신정환에 대해 도박 및 외환관리법 위반혐의로 수사를 진행 중이어서 귀국 후 처벌은 피하기 어려울 것이란 전망이 우세하다.
