Former rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae is dating Choi Jong-hoon of boy band FT Island.

Son's management agency Galaxia SM confirmed the news in a press release on Wednesday. "Son and Choi just started dating and are still getting to know each other", Choi's agency FNC Entertainment also admitted.
The two were introduced through an acquaintance. Son, who was having a tough time after deciding to retire from competition in February, met Choi and found comfort and solace in him.
Son won gold in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon and finished fourth at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in individual all-around. She is now concentrating on her studies.
FT Island recently released an album celebrating the 10th anniversary of their debut.
