"Uncle Sam-sik" tells the story of Uncle Sam-sik (Song Kang-ho), who always eats three meals a day even during a war, and Kim San (Byun Yo-han), an elite young man who wants to make a country where everyone eats well and lives well.
Song Kang-ho made headlines by appearing in a drama for the first time in 32 years since his debut. "Uncle Sam-sik" has a total of 16 episodes.
Song Kang-ho explained, "I can't tell you that the filming period was particularly long compared to a movie", and added, "Since Disney+ releases episodes every week, there was a new process in this disclosure as well". He revealed what he experienced through "Uncle Sam-sik".
"It was good, and on the other hand, it was overwhelming because it was not released at once like in a movie, so I had to keep being exposed. There were many complex feelings", said Song Kang-ho, who said there was talk of dramas in the early days of his debut in the movie "The Quiet Family" (1998).
"I had no intention of dramas at that time. After 20 to 30 years of working in movies, global contents and communication methods have diversified. Entering such an era, I naturally started to do dramas", he said, explaining why he challenged the drama.
Song Kang-ho, who finished his drama debut, said, "I want to do more dramas in the future. Now I want to communicate globally on a global theme".
Song Kang-ho said, "When I tried the drama, I felt the fun and difficult parts of acting that were different from movies. Movies put in as much fun as possible and there's a lot of pressure. On the other hand, in dramas, I have more time to explain my story, acting, and character to viewers in a more detailed and friendly way. In that sense, I am very interested in acting as an actor, but I also feel motivated. I honestly thought that the drama was so much fun".
"I'm not saying the movie is boring, but I want to do a drama again if I have a chance", he added, drawing laughter once again.
Meanwhile, "Uncle Sam-sik" has been released on Disney+.
