Song Il-gon's second feature film Spider Forest has been invited to the competition section of the 52nd San Sebastian International Film Festival in Spain.
One of the autumn season's A-list festivals, San Sebastian will feature 15 films in competition including high-profile new works by John Sayles, Michael Winterbottom and Suzanne Bier.
Spider Forest is a mystery thriller about a strange forest where a TV producer witnesses a bizarre murder scene. Song's previous film Flower Island screened at the Venice International Film Festival in 2001, and he also won a Grand Jury Prize in Cannes' Short Film Competition in 1999 with The Picnic.
The San Sebastian festival runs from September 17-25. Last year, Bong Joon-ho's Memories of Murder had its international premiere in competition, where it won the Best Director award.
