In December last year, Yeun received an award from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association for the role in the same movie.
The film is based on the short story "Barn Burning" by Japanese author Haruki Murakami. Yeun plays a mysterious wealthy man who comes across two youngsters, played by Yoo Ah-in and Jeon Jong-seo.
The NSFC's annual awards are among the most prestigious given out in the U.S. film industry.
The film has been nominated for an Academy Award next month for best foreign-language film.
