"My Dictator" is based in the year 1970 when the first North and South summit took place and a stand-in was used to pretend to me Kim Il-sung.
Sul Kyung-gu takes on the role of Seong-geun, a nameless actor who wants his son to be proud of him. Park Hae-il is Tae-sik who looked at his father like an idol back in the days but now feels him to be a burden.
In "My Dictator", Yoon Je-moon is the deputy director of JungAng Times, Lee Byung-joon is Sul Kyung-gu's acting coach, and Ryu Hye-young is the woman who has a crush on Park Hae-il.
