T.O.P. was accused of smoking liquid marijuana, a highly concentrated form of the drug, at his home in Seoul in October last year with a 21-year-old aspiring singer.

The rapper initially denied the charges, claiming he only smoked tobacco, but admitted them during his trial.

"The fact that the defendant admits smoking marijuana on all four occasions and the related evidence prove that he is guilty", the Seoul Central District Court said. But it added that it was "his first offense and that he admitted his crimes and has repented".

After the ruling, T.O.P. said, "I am truly sorry for causing such disappointment. I will let this be a lesson never to repeat such a thing".

The singer, whose real name is Choi Seung-hyun, started his mandatory military service as an auxiliary police officer in February, his main duty being to promote the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency as a member of the police band.

Since he has not been jailed he can continue his military service in the same post or somewhere else.
