"The Glory" Keeping Viewers on their Toes

Viewers are responding to the Netflix drama "The Glory", which became a hot topic shortly after its first release on the 30th of last month, saying, "Don't watch it now", and "I should have watched it in March, I watched it early for no reason".

It is pointed out that the flow is cut off because Part 1 ends even before the main character even begins to take proper revenge.

As such, splitting dramas 'in parts' is popular in recent broadcasters. Online video service (OTT) is no exception.

Netflix, which has been at the forefront of OTT, has adhered to a 'binge-watching' strategy that allows users to watch several dramas at once, but has recently changed its strategy to 'split-watching' due to intensifying OTT competition at home and abroad.

Despite complaints from viewers that the flow is cut off, the reason why the series is divided into parts is to aim for a locking effect that locks down subscribers.

Ha Jae-geun, a pop culture critic, analyzed, "The reason for 'splitting' is the strategy to hold subscribers as long as possible".

However, some point out that it would have been better to reveal the parts at once without distinguishing them.

Gong Hee-jung, a drama critic, said, "In order to break the lump of the story, we need to come up with measures to prevent departure during the hiatus", adding, "We need to create curiosity and interest in the next development and fill the gap with clear differences from other contents".

The drama "The Glory" will be released in two parts. Part 2 will be released in March.
