"When the Day Breaks" ceased all production.

According to JTBC, "When the Day Breaks" has completed filming eight episodes but is currently reorganizing for level of completion".

"When the Day Breaks" aimed for release this year. However, filming came to stop because of COVID-19 and has been since postponed.

"When the Day Breaks" is about a forensic scientist who becomes a murder suspect, starring Han Suk-kyu, Jung Yu-mi and Lee Hee-jun. It is helmed by "Crash Landing on You" director Lee Jeong-hyo.

"When the Day Breaks" is based on an original Chinese novel called "The Long Night". Suspicions were raised that the novel was a propaganda of the Xi Jinping administration, sparking controversy. Suspicions have been raised that the drama may be trying to glorify communism.
