"Windstruck" Soars in Popularity in Japan

The South Korean movie "Windstruck" is soaring in popularity in Japan these days as more and more moviegoers flock to see it.
Warner Brothers Japan, a Japanese movie distribution company, said on Jan. 12 that Windstruck" drew a total of 1,278,264 viewers as of Jan. 10 since its opening on Dec. 11, taking in 1,698,792,680 yen in sales revenues.
It is the second highest total for a Korean movie in Japan since "Shiri", which took in 1.8 billion yen. And "Windstruck" has not shown a viewer dropoff rate so far, with its sales surging 17 percent on Jan. 9 (Sunday) over the previous Sunday on Jan. 2.
The movie recorded sales of 286,564,050 yen over just one week from Jan. 3 through Jan. 9. If this trend continues, it is highly likely to surpass "Shiri" by the weekend of Jan. 15-16.
