Yoo Ah-in takes on the role of Kang-cheol who struggles to manage his sick mother's medical fees and Kim Hae-sook is his mother who has Alzheimer's but has undying love for her son.
In the still cut revealed, Yoo Ah-in and Kim Hae-sook are on bike, enjoying some time together.
Jung Yu-mi appears as Susie who meets Kang-cheol on her vacation and gives him hope.
Other than that, Kim Jung-tae and Kim Sung-oh take on the roles of gang boss Sang-gon and his brother Hwi-gon. Kang-cheol's best friend Jong-soo will be played by Lee Si-eon and yakuza Yagami by Shin Jung-geun.
CJ Entertainment claims there was no other actor for the role of Kang-cheo and that the collaboration with Ahn Kwon-tae who moved everyone's hearts with the movie "My Brother" is highly expectant.
"Tough as Iron" is based in Busan where Kang-cheol lives without a particular job but gets involved with the gang to manage his sick mother's medical fees.
