Yoo Ah-in Sentenced to 1 Year in Prison

Actor Yoo Ah-in, who was handed over to trial on charges of taking drugs, was sentenced to one year in prison in the first trial and arrested in court.

The Seoul Central District Court's Criminal Division 25 (Judge Ji Gwi-yeon) sentenced Yoo Ah-in, who was indicted for violating the Narcotics Control Act, to one year in prison with a fine of 2 million won and a fine of around 1.54 million won, and arrested him in court today. He also ordered the completion of 80 hours of drug re-education program and a fine of around 1.54 million won.

Yoo Ah-in was put on trial in October last year on charges of habitually administering medical propofol 181 times under the guise of sleep anesthesia for cosmetic procedures at hospitals around Seoul from September 2020 to March 2022.

He was indicted without detention in October last year on charges of illegally buying a total of 1,100 sleeping pills, Steel Knox tablets, and Xanax tablets, 44 times in the name of others between May 2021 and August 2022.

He is also accused of smoking marijuana in the U.S. in January this year along with his acquaintance Choi (33) and teaching others to smoke. He is also charged with coaxing and threatening an accomplice to flee the country and reverse his statement to another accomplice to cover up the crime. On the same day, Choi was sentenced to eight months in prison and two years of probation.

Meanwhile, after the first trial was sentenced, Yoo Ah-in said, "I'm sorry for causing concern to many people".
