MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama "When the Phone Rings" is a secret romance thriller between a couple in their third year of marriage, which begins with a threatening phone call.
Yoo Yeon-seok plays Baek Sa-eon, the youngest presidential office spokesman who has everything from background, appearance, and skills and Chae Soo-bin plays Hong Hee-joo, a sign language interpreter who is Baek Sa-eon's wife who suffers from a childhood accident.
Among them, two shots of Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin, who were married through a political marriage, were released for the first time on the 17th. The fantastic visual combination of the two completes a chemistry, which rapidly increases the heart rate of viewers.
The stills released contain various moments of the show-window couple Baek Sa-eon and Hong Hee-joo. The close atmosphere between the two arouses a strange tension greater than the excitement of the bride and groom about to marry, raising curiosity.
In addition, Sa-eon and Hee-joo, who are wearing a tailgate and a dress, are seen relying on each other with their eyes fixed on something even though they continue to make meaningful eye contact. Sa-eon, who maintains a clean image through thorough self-management, and Hee-joo, who has no expectations or will for marriage, only plays a minimal role in showing others. Although they are living without conversation with each other, curiosity grows about the relationship between those who will change their perception with a phone call one day.
In particular, the two have a job of communicating with others as a spokesman for the presidential office and a sign language interpreter, but they have not been able to communicate with each other, and they will show off their antipathy as well as a deep romance.
Based on the popular web novel of the same name on Kakao Page, "When the Phone Rings" was written by Kim Ji-woon-II, who showed solid writing skills such as "Melancholia" and "Doctor John", and director Park Sang-woo-I, who showed sensational directing skills in "The Forbidden Marriage", join forces.
"When the Phone Rings" which will mark the end of MBC's Friday-Saturday drama in the second half of 2024, will premiere in November.
