His path took him through study of art and industrial design, production of television commercials, travels across Europe, studying at the Vancouver Film School in Canada and writing scripts. Now, his first directorial effort, "Heartbeat" has crossed the one million admissions milestone in Korea after just over two weeks.
According to an article about Yoon in The Korea Herald, "Heartbeat" is about "two people from different social classes fighting over one pounding heart – to save what matters to them most". The cast is headed by Kim Yunjin and Park Hae-il.
Yoon told the newspaper that he'd like to make his next film "a visually oriented piece". He explained: "I've studied art and it is in my DNA. I want my next piece to be extremely cinematic and visually pleasing, rather than character-driven like "Heartbeat"."
