Veteran actress Nam Jung-hee has passed away.

According to the Korean Association of Senior Film Artists on the 24th, Nam Jung-hee died at her home on the 22nd. She was 84.
It was reported that her health had deteriorated following spinal surgery she underwent about a year ago.
The late Nam Jung-hee made her debut in the 1962 film "The Story of Shim Cheong". After getting married, she took a break from acting before returning to the screen in 1989.
Over the course of her career, she appeared in nearly 300 films, including "Festival - 1996", "Chunhyang", "Affection", "A Werewolf Boy", and "0.0MHz". She also appeared in popular television dramas such as "Sandglass", Romance, and "My Husband Got a Family".
Although she often played supporting roles rather than leading ones, Nam Jung-hee became widely recognized as a 'grandmother role specialist', leaving a strong impression on audiences. In 2011, she received the Special Acting Award at the 48th Grand Bell Awards in recognition of her long-standing contribution to Korean cinema.
Nam Jung-hee's memorial altar has been set up at the funeral hall of Severance Hospital in Sinchon, Seoul. The funeral procession took place at 8 AM on the 26th.
