[Aisha's Take] Drama Analysis: Here Is How "The Interest of Love"'s Sang-soo and Soo-yeong Depicts the Seasons of Love

"The Interest of Love" is a newly released K-Drama on Netflix and airs every Wednesday and Thursdays. With a star-studded lead cast, including Mun Ka-young, Yoo Yeon-seok, Jung Ga-ram and Keum Sae-rok, the drama had piqued interest of the viewers since the beginning.

"Interest Of Love" tells the story of four employees of Bank Youngpo branch. Ahn Soo-yeong (Mun Ka-young) is known as the queen of Youngpo because of her beauty and efficiency, she is always the first one to have her balance correct and barely makes any mistakes. Sang-soo, once a rookie under survelliance, has developed feelings for.The two make an advancement in their relationship but that quickly shatters and their left in a complicated silence. Later, Jeong Jong-hyeon (Jung Ga-ram) and Park Mi-kyeong enter the scene and the four are entangled in a complicated love line.

The drama depicts the different seasons of love. In the opening scene, Sang-soo is caught stealing glances of Soo-yeong. His love is like spring. The seed of love has started to bloom from an ordinary crush to something more real. The two accompany eachother on an unexpected trip to Jeju Island after Sang-soo exchanged the credit cards, giving the VIP card to the wrong client.

Sang-soo gets to see Soo-yeong up closley. She is like summer to him, bright and caring. She wishes to help a fallen egg whilst he was against it. But he helped her anyways. Later, he musters up the courage to take a leap and see her out of the office. 

Their relationship takes a sudden cold turn when Sang-soo gets caught up in work and Soo-yeong is left waiting for him. After then, she begins to ignore him even when he makes efforts to make up to her. It grows awkward between the two, leaving Sang-soo with reeling feelings.

It is then, when the queen of Youngpo has new light shedded on her. She is the main topic of many gossip and scandals. It is rumored that she flirts with many men. Whilst we looks at Sang-soo through other's eyes, she is left mysterious. Her background is not exposed, instead the onky scenes of her are silent and filled with loneliness.

The leaves on Sang-soo's love tree begin to shed like in autumn. He doesn't say anything against nor in her favor. Moreover, somewhere in between he also beleives the rumors. Though, when she was interrogated at a company dinner, he was agitated by the inappropriate questions and was worried about her. He wanted to stand up for her but was held back by his friend. This makes Soo-yeong frustrated and she pushes herself further away from him.

As the story unfolds we wish to see their love experience more seasons. Will they shift to a long cold winter as they try to mend their heart with the new entries in their life? Or will they attain eternal summer with each other? It is yet to be figured out.
