Robot Taekwon V, a Korean cartoon superhero, has become a Goodwill Envoy for the United Nations refugee agency.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees hopes that being associated with the 32-year-old character will help the organization gain more recognition in the country.
It is the first time the agency has enlisted the support of a cartoon character.
Robot Taekwon V's image will be used at fund-raising events and to inform Koreans on the status of refugees in the world.
In an interview with the agency Taekwon V said he believes in the warm-heartedness of Koreans and that he would remind them of their own displacement during the Korean War.
