Choi Wooshik's agency, Fable Company, told My Daily on the 25th that "Choi Wooshik has received a proposal for "Whale Star" and is reviewing it".
"Whale Star" is a story of a woman who became a bubble to protect a man who gave everything to her country, the Little Mermaid from Gyeongseong in 1926. The story depicts a man who gave everything to his country and a woman who risks her life to protect him against the backdrop of the anti-Japanese movement in the Japanese colonial era. Director Hur Jin-ho will direct the drama, and Choi Yoon-man from "My Mister" and "When Life Gives You Tangerines" will be in charge of the cinematography
Choi plays Kang Eui-hyeon, one of the few elite members in "Whale Star", as he is fluent in Korean, Japanese, and English. He is an independent activist who runs a photo studio and is responsible for espionage photography and code decoding. He studied law at Tokyo University at the will of his father, who is pro-Japanese and a judge, but he is ashamed of his father, and tries to clean up his family's sins by becoming a judge.
Although it has not been confirmed that he will appear, opinions are divided over Choi Wooshik's role. Some say that Choi Wooshik is a Canadian citizen who is exempted from the military and is commonly referred to as the 'black-haired foreigner', and whether it is right to take the role of an independence activist. There is no reason not to do it, but public opinion does not seem to welcome the idea.
"Whale Star" is a Take One Studio production.
