Domestic Films Set New Records in First Half

The Culture Ministry said on Tuesday that a record 55.6 million moviegoers saw locally-produced movies at the cinema from January to June, giving them a 56 percent market share.

The total number of moviegoers also rose, as did overall ticket sales, which fell just short of US$640 million. The most popular film over the past six months, including foreign movies, was "Miracle in Cell No.7" starring Ryu Seung-ryong and Park Shin-hye.
