On June 18th, her agency, HODU&U Entertainment, told OSEN, "Ha Yoon-kyung has received an offer from the production team of the Netflix series "First Doctor" and is reviewing it favorably".
"First Doctor" is a human medical drama that follows Heo Ji-wan, a dedicated doctor who returns in triumph as the head of pediatric surgery at Yeonhee University Hospital, a position she had unwillingly left during her residency due to an incident. The series is said to warmly portray the harsh realities faced by a pediatric surgery department on the verge of closure due to population decline, as well as the stories of young patients meeting their very first doctor and the families who stand by them.
With actress Jung Ryeo-won set to play the lead role of Heo Ji-wan and actor Kim Mu-yeol cast as surgery department chief Son Sang-baek, the drama is already generating anticipation. Director Hong Jong-chan will helm the project. Kim Mu-yeol and Hong Jong-chan are reuniting for the third time following Netflix's "Juvenile Justice" and "Teach You a Lesson".
In particular, True Education has recently enjoyed immense popularity, topping global charts for two consecutive weeks. As a result, "First Doctor" has attracted even more attention as the next collaboration chosen by Hong Jong-chan and Kim Mu-yeol.
Ha Yoon-kyung has reportedly been offered the role of Ki Eun-gyeol, the most senior resident in the surgery department. Initially at odds with Heo Ji-wan, the character gradually comes to be influenced by her, promising a compelling arc of personal growth and transformation.
If she accepts the role, Ha Yoon-kyung will once again wear a doctor's coat for the first time in five years since her appearance in the tvN drama "Hospital Playlist".
