According to Egyptian daily Al-Akbar on August 7, Egypt's state-run TV station ERTU, which wields considerable influence in the Middle East, is interested in importing a new Korean TV drama.
ERTU's TV Channel-2 will import a new Korean drama in compliance with requests from Arabic-speaking viewers. The Egyptian state-run TV aired KBS TV2's "Winter Sonata" earlier this year.
The new Korean drama is expected to begin airing after the month-long Ramadan (the traditional time of Islamic fasting) in October. ERTU will dub the Korean drama in Arabic as soon as the drama is chosen.
ERTU's TV Channel-2 stole the spotlight in August last year by broadcasting "Autumn in my Heart ", another drama produced by KBS TV 2. The Egyptian TV also won acclaim from viewers in Arabic-speaking regions in January this year by airing "Winter Sonata".
